To improve efficiency we need to allow for responsiveness to their environment. Proprioception has long been overlooked when it comes to feet. Your motor engrams are influenced almost constantly through formal means such as training, strength, balance drills, and equipment selection. Informally motor engrams can be influenced through; previous injuries, weather, even the side of the road you run on.
These can (and will) influence the way you move. The key to enhance performance and comfort is integrating footcare and proper materials before, during, and after your race.
Not every insole, shoe, or sock will work with the unique way that your foot moves, so it's important to dial your kit in before running long distances. It is essential you select materials that provide your foot with what it needs to be dynamic. Cushion in the heel, propulsion under the forefoot and feedback midfoot/under arch. Optimizing your kit and caring for your feet before, during, and after your race will help avoid injury, enhance performance, and enjoy your run fully.
