#FootCareSummer

At Sidas, it's #FootCareSummer.
What exactly is footcare? Well, glad you asked.
To us, footcare is more than just a pedicure or a Epsom salt bath after a big day. Footcare is a lifestyle.
Footcare means properly caring for the outside and inside of your feet before, during and after your time on trail... again and again.
We could talk about this forever, but here's a snipit of what matters.
Before: Preventative Care- Analysis
The world of technology often scares us dirt-loving runners, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't take advantage of resources to help us. Analysis machines, such as the EVO, can help you better understand your anatomy. Toe box matters. Instep height matters. Size matters AND varies by brand and model. "On sale" or recommended by a friend does not mean right for your foot.
Prevent injury, discomfort, and pain on-trail by choosing the proper gear to train in.
Also, and we don't know how this still needs to be said, but clip your toenails!
During: Product and Protection
Pick. Proper. Insoles.
The best thing you can do to prevent an injury is enhance proprioception of intrinsic muscles. Know where you are every step, and cushion your foot where it counts. Pick a heel cup that strengthens the "locked in" fit. This will prevent unwanted friction and subsequent cramping and blisters.
IF you do get a blister, stop and protect it. It is important that if you continue your run, you do so without modifying gait. Avoid changing the way you move to accommodate pain, just pad the darn blister and continue your run.
If you know you're blister prone, pick socks that are quick-drying, breathable, and supportive. Consider a double sock for further protection.
After- Recovery
Dry your shoes and insoles out. We offer electric and non-electric dryers, so just do it. Not only will your next run be more enjoyable in dry gear, but your favorite shoes and insoles will last signifigantly longer if they're properly cared for. Minor additional perk: everything will smell better too.
