THE MEETING: ’WHEN AN ATHLETE INSPIRES A SOCK‘

What is the Run Motion collaboration with Caitlin Fielder? Why did Caitlin Fielder participate in the design of Run Motion socks?

’The story begins in 2023, just a few weeks after joining Team Sidas. We talked a lot about my creative world. I felt that the development team was receptive to my sensibility. The idea of a four-handed collaboration took root and quickly became a concrete project. Everything happened very naturally. It's a wonderful opportunity to express myself as an athlete but also as an artist, since this adventure is at the crossroads of my two passions: trail running and creation. At that point, I had already had the opportunity to combine the two worlds, notably by customising my outfit, helmet and bike frame, but this was the first time the opportunity had arisen in running! ‘

’It's a wonderful opportunity to realise my potential as an athlete but also as an artist. ‘

INSPIRATION: ’A RAY OF SUNSHINE & AN ENERGY BOOST DURING THE RACE‘

What inspired the design of Run Motion?

’I don't just want to create a “pretty” sock: I want to design a sock that shines! A sock that makes you smile when your thighs are burning, when the slope gets steeper and your mind starts to waver. When trail running, you often look at your feet, or those of the competitor ahead of you. So when I sat down to work on my first sketches, I had in mind a colourful design that would take your mind off things and stop you from brooding. I want to convey a positive message, bring joy and let my naturally optimistic personality shine through. So I'm focusing my mood board on warm, almost saturated pastel colours that accompany sunrises and sunsets, when the sun sinks into or rises from the ocean. I see these socks as an extension of that solar energy, always in motion.‘

’I want to convey a positive message, to bring joy. ‘

THE DESIGN: ’A UNIQUE TIE-DYE PATTERN THAT ENCOURAGES YOU TO KEEP GOING"

How did the Sidas team work with Caitlin to develop the product? What is special about the colours and patterns of these colourful trail socks?

"From the first sketch to the final model, we follow a path whose topography is modelled on that of an ultra-trail: the path is anything but linear, but the project remains super fluid and enjoyable! That's the game when you embark on a creative collaboration: ideas, prototypes, failures, rebounds... My first designs are too small, too detailed, too difficult to apply to socks; but we don't abandon them completely, as they ultimately find their place on the packaging. After several attempts, we settle on the simplest design, which is also the most fun and striking! A tie-dye with fluid, lively and luminous patterns, giving these trail socks a slightly faded and gradient effect, with a totally unapologetic psychedelic touch. This artisanal textile dyeing technique, popularised by hippies in the 1970s, ensures the uniqueness of each model: through this process, each sock is one of a kind. Finally, we complete the design by printing a discreet but powerful message on the back of the sock: “Forward Motion”. It's both a running strategy and a philosophy of life: encouraging you to always keep moving, to keep going no matter what, step by step! ‘

’Socks for running. Colours for self-expression. ‘

SIDAS EXPERTISE: ’STYLISH RUNNING SOCKS, BUT NOT ONLY THAT...‘

What technical benefits do Run Motion socks offer runners? Why choose technical and stylish trail socks?

’Style is not a detail, nor a whim, but a driving force; not an end in itself, but a means to an end. In other words, if I feel good in my gear, I feel good about myself and therefore confident. Having style is a mental lever because it boosts self-esteem: I can do it! On the other hand, looking good is not enough to be good... Your equipment must be at the cutting edge of innovation. Run Motion trail socks were designed with this in mind: stylish, yes, but also technical and high-performance. I like socks that are lightweight, precise, breathable, durable and close-fitting, like a second skin. Run Motion socks tick all these boxes!

A TRAIL SOCK CELEBRATED BY ATHLETES: ‘A SPECIAL FEELING TO SEE THEM ON THE FEET OF RUNNERS AT THE UTMB’

How do Run Motion socks differ from a classic trail sock?

"The launch at the UTMB was a magical moment... I felt very emotional when I saw Run Motion socks on the feet of the world's best athletes, from Marianne Hogan to Thibaut Baronian and Lucille Germain. It touched me deeply. It was as if a connection had been established between us: we were giving each other strength. When I wear them, they give me joy and confidence, and I hope they have the same positive impact on the community. In fact, given the success of this first limited edition, we have already started a second collaboration project. It's in the pipeline! We already have an artistic direction in mind: something that pays tribute to nature, leaves and trees. An even more raw, mineral and plant-inspired sock.
